Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about how the tools work, what they store, and how the site is funded.
What is YesNoWheelApp?
A one-person site of free, browser-based tools: wheels and spinners where you set the odds, quick yes/no tools (wheel, dice, coin), party games with built-in prompt decks, and list tools for picking names or splitting teams. Nothing needs an account.
Which tool should I use when some outcomes should be more likely than others?
Use the Percentage Spinner when you already know the exact odds you want (say 70/20/10 for a prize draw). Use the Weighted Decision Wheel when you would rather describe how much you lean toward each option and let the tool turn that into slice sizes. For equal odds on any list, use the Random Decision Maker.
What happens if the percentages I enter don’t add up to 100?
The Percentage Spinner treats each number as a share of the total. Values of 3, 1 and 1 become 60%, 20% and 20%, and the wheel’s slices are sized to match, so you never have to make them sum to exactly 100.
How random are the results?
Every tool uses the browser’s Math.random(), and each spin, roll or draw is independent of the ones before it. That is fine for games, everyday choices and casual giveaways. It is not a cryptographically secure or independently audited generator, so don’t use it for gambling, legal decisions or regulated prize draws.
Is the result decided by the spinning animation?
No. The result is drawn the moment you press spin; the animation only shows it landing. Nothing about how long you wait, how often you spin, or which device you use changes the odds.
What happens to the names, options and questions I type?
They are processed in your browser and are not sent to our servers. Some tools keep a short history of recent spins in your browser’s local storage so you can see it next time; clearing your browser data removes it. Analytics events record which tool was used, never the text you typed or the result you got.
Does the site use cookies or collect personal data?
Yes, for two things: Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics measure anonymous usage, and Google AdSense shows ads, which can use cookies to measure and personalize them. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland these cookies wait for your consent, and you can change your choice at any time. The Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy list the details and opt-out links.
Can I use these tools to pick a giveaway or raffle winner?
For casual giveaways, streams and classroom draws, yes. The Raffle Wheel lets one person hold several tickets and removes one ticket per draw, so you can draw several prizes in order. For a legally regulated sweepstakes with real prize value, check your local rules and use an audited draw method.
Should I use a wheel for an important life decision?
Not as the decision-maker. A wheel cannot know your situation. Where it can help is when two options are both reasonable and you are stuck: notice whether you feel relieved or disappointed by the result. For health, legal, financial or relationship decisions with real consequences, talk to someone qualified.
Why are the tools free?
The site is funded by advertising. Ads are labeled, shown outside the tool area, have no access to what you type, and have no effect on any result.
I found a mistake or a tool isn’t working. What should I do?
Use the Contact page. Reported errors are looked into within 24 hours and a confirmed fix is published within 48 hours, as described in the Corrections Policy.
Still Have Questions?
Each tool page has its own FAQ for tool-specific details. For anything else, get in touch — replies usually arrive within 48 hours on business days.
